This past weekend, the state of South Carolina’s Department of Natural Resources allowed anyone to hunt on public land or private land with permission on Friday and Saturday without filling out any paperwork or owning a license. Wildlife officials said that this wouldn’t eliminate any federal hunting requirements.
The Department of Natural Resources plans to have a free hunting period every year to introduce people to hunting and the outdoors who otherwise may not have gone as far as to apply for a hunting license.
All existing season requirements and limits on the number of animals allowed to be killed remain in effect. Hopefully lots of South Carolinians took advantage of this and enjoyed the outdoors this weekend!
