South Carolina Wild Quail Management

South Carolina Wild Quail Management

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is sponsoring the 25th Annual Wild Quail Management Seminar on March 8th & 9th, 2012 in Hampton County, South Carolina.  By attending this seminar, you will learn proper techniques to creating a habitat that supports bobwhite quail on your South Carolina hunting land.  Bobwhite quail populations have been declining in South Carolina over the past half-century. South Carolina land owners and land managers will be presented with information on how to actively manage their land to carry high-density quail populations through field demonstrations as well as classroom instruction focusing on forest management, brush control, prescribed burning, firebreaks, natural and supplemental food patch plantings, predation and many other subjects.

Attendees will learn how to improve habitat on their South Carolina hunting land which will positively affect all South Carolina land.  The Seminar will be held at Webb Wildlife Center in Garnett, SC.  The registration fee is $85 and includes meals and overnight accommodations.  For more information on registering for the seminar, call the DNR Small Game Project in Columbia at (803) 734-3609, or e-mail [email protected].
